Amitabh bachchanWhen all the fans
around the world are celebrating the 64th birthday of
Amitabh Bachchan today, here are some interesting tidbits
you always wanted to know about the most prolific mega
superstar of Bollywood.
Home: Bachchan loves comfort and
style and does not compromise on them. The flooring
in his home is Italian marble and the bath fittings
are from France and Germany. It is said his bungalows,
Pratiksha and Jalsa, in Juhu, are together worth a whopping
Rs 1, 60 crore. Interestingly, Jalsa, his second home,
was gifted to him.
Clothes: Bachchan is very fond
of suits — his favourite is Gabbana; they have
been designing his suits for the last 30 years. The
fabric is specially imported from Italy; the thread
imported from France and the buttons from England. His
other favourite brand is Fratelli Rosetti, which starts
from Rs 35,000.
Cars: Bachchan owns 11 cars —
including a Lexus, two BMWs and three Mercedes Benzes.
His favourite is the Lexus. The car is bulletproof and
has radial tyres (normally used for Formula 1 races;
each tyre costs Rs 2.5 lakh). The car also has a Global
Positioning System, which enables him to know at the
snap of his finger the closest food outlet or shopping
mall he would like to visit.
Food: Though Bachchan loves eating,
he is extremely diet conscious. A complete veggie, he
loves the Italian cuisine at Mezzo Mezzo, at J W Marriot
Hotel.
Passions: Bachchan has a passion
for collecting watches. It is said that the actor never
repeats his watches. His favourite brand is Longines,
which costs around Rs 2,00,000. His other interest is
collecting pens — the actor owns over a thousand
pens. Mont Blanc gifts AB a special pen every year on
his birthday.
Travel: London and Switzerland.
In London, Bachchan prefers to stay at St James’s
Court, which is five minutes away from Buckingham Palace.
He stays in the presidential suite, and the hotel has
designed a brand new gym especially for him in this
suite. A lift takes him to the underground parking lot
directly from his suite.
Brand AB: According to ad pundits,
Bachchan charges anything between Rs five to Rs 12 crore
per ad. According to one report, a company paid him
Rs 10 crore for ten days — about Rs 7,000 per
minute!
Charity: Bachchan donates generously
to organisations like PETA, Helpage, Cancer Association
of India and the Red Cross.

a very Happy Birthday! |
